Solar Domestic Hot Water
In northern climates where sustained sub zero temperatures are frequent in the winter months, the increased thermal efficiency of evacuated tube collectors make them the preffered choice for year round water heating. The typical installation is shown below utilizing a closed loop of non-toxic propylene glycol as the heat transfer fluid in the collector loop. This fluid then heats the drinking water through a heat exchanger in the storage tank.
