Lighting Products
Energy efficient lighting abounds. You likely have seen countless LED or Compact Flouresent products in the stores. But how much do you really save?
In each of the lighting catagories below, you will find a cost per 1000 hours index. This number illustrates the cost of the lighting product for 1000 hours of use including the cost of the product and the power it consumes based on a $0.15 per kilowatt-hour rate.
How do we get this number? This is calculated by the mulitiplying the consumed wattage by the rated life in hours divided by 1000 to get kWh and then multiplied by the electric rate (if not solar). To this number we add the price of the product and then divide again by the rated life and multiply by 1000 to get a non-fractional number.
The lower the number the better.
